I Think We’re Alone Now
October 19 – December 8, 2013
Reception: Saturday, October 19, 2013, 7-10PM
2A Gallery is pleased to present I Think We’re Alone Now, a solo exhibition of new sculpture and photography by Taylor Tschider. An opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 7-10PM. A closing reception is scheduled for Sunday, December 1, 2013 from 7-10PM.
Tschider’s work centers around a critical exploration of nostalgia and constructions of the past. He analyzes infatuations and fantasies and channels them into accumulative, detritus-filled totems and fetishes allowing both Freudian and Marxist interpretations. From nauseatingly fantastical abstract forms to dismissive minimal objects and fabricated photo arrangements, his work incorporates autobiography, myth, and assumption to the effect of a self-deprecating articulation of illusion, loss, and regret.
Born in Seattle, Taylor Tschider earned his MFA from Otis College of Art and Design in 2011 and his BFA in Sculpture from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2009. His installation Has That Always Been There? was recently exhibited at G.A.T.E. Projects in Glendale, CA. He was selected to show in GLAMFA at California State University, Long Beach in 2010. He has shown in group exhibitions at The Luggage Store, San Francisco, and Mission 17 Gallery, San Francisco. He lives and works in Los Angeles.
2A Gallery is located at 400 S Main St #2A, Los Angeles, CA 90013 on the second floor of the San Fernando Building.
